About us: our passions

We at Mill Made are passionate about heritage, and about how we can make it contemporary. Our products are created by specialist craftspeople using generations-old skills and traditions that are at the heart of Dutch culture.

Making it possible

Mill Made makes it possible for people from all over the world to easily find authentic mill-made products that are made in the Netherlands. We also make it easy for you to meet our partners who are located across the country.

original products

Not only is the idea of finding further uses for used and remnant mill materials, our product designs are original and we think rather clever ways of inventing the (mill)wheel.

Supporting our community partners

We work directly with our mill partners, so your purchase of Mill Made products contributes to keeping the Dutch milling tradition alive and prosperous. It helps keep the wind blades and the water wheels turning

Introducing our friends

We can introduce you to the places where each product is made, as well as to the person who made it, so that you too can share in our passion. Many of our products are named after some of the people who helped us create the Mill Made story.

our Origins

Our founder, Annette Welkamp, specialises in developing and managing heritage projects, and Mill Made is very dear to her heart.

Some time ago

Annette aged 8 in a photo studio in Volendam. Her family’s traditional dress is somewhat different, but the clogs are definitely the same

Annette speaks her own unique version of Dutch, with an Australian accent, using strange old-fashioned words that emanate from Twente in the east of the Netherlands, her parents’ original base. Everyone but her notices this, but we don’t tell her, as she thinks it all sounds perfectly fine

Yooly - the basket

Made from new windmill sailcloth fabric remnants, sourced direct from the sailmaker’s studio
